To tell you the truth,
If He’s tested you greatly,
He loves you dearly.

Each of us will and are being tested, may it be by success or failure, we all know that tests underlie within them.
All of us are pre-ordained with our destiny and we all will come back to our Lord. This world is but a transitory place for us. Indeed a believer of Allāh will and is afflicted with trials and tribulations to mould him to the best of what he can and is, keeping in mind that all of these are not intended to punish or make things hard for him.
In the Qur’ān, we are reminded and told that all of these trials, tribulations, blessings and success are given to us for reasons;
[1] “Allāh intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you.”
[2] “And we tried them with good (blessings) and evil (calamities) in order that they might turn (to Allāh’s obedience).”
[3] “…And it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allaah knows, and you do not know.”
[4] ”And certainly We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to those who are patient.”
[5] “Do people think that they will be left alone because they say, ‘We believe,’ and will not be tested.”
Beautiful verses to contemplate from! Subhan’Allāh, indeed it is not enough that we just say we are Muslims yet we cannot stand firm on proving this and defending this when such calamities befall upon us!
As Muslims, servants of Allāh, The Most High, we should face every difficulty with sincere patience, complete trust and firm faith with Him. It is but through these that we attain peace and are able to cope up with all the calamities that can befall us.
Muhammad ﷺ said;“The affair of the believer is amazing! The whole of his life is beneficial, and that is only in the case of the believer. When good times come to him, he is thankful and it is good for him, and when bad times befall him, he is patient and it is also good for him.”
[Sahih Bukharī]Ibn Al-Jawzee said;
“Whoever wants to have everlasting peace and well-being with no affliction does not understand the meaning of Allāh’s commandments, nor does he perceive the meaning of submission to Allāh. Every soul (either believing or disbelieving) shall inevitably taste suffering in this world, for this life is based on hardships. Man lives between comfort and suffering. Prophet Aadam, for instance, had the angels prostrated before him and yet was soon after expelled from paradise”Sa’ād bin Abī Waqqaas said: I said, “O Messenger of Allaah, who are the most afflicted of all people? Muhammad ﷺ replied;
“The Prophets, then the righteous people, then those who are nearest to them in perfection and those who are nearest to them. Man is tested according to his religiosity; if he is strong religiously, his test is increased and if he is weak in religion, his test is reduced And a believer will be tested until he walks on the earth sinless [i.e. his sins have been erased by series of afflictions that he endured.”
[Bukharī]
Subhan’Allāh! So beautifully defined, wallahi if you think you have the worst problems in the world then remember how the Prophets (AS) suffered, how people rejected them and plotted against them, remember how Muhammad ﷺ bled in Ta’if, and most of all remember what Allāh says;
[6] “Allāh is with the patient.”
[7] “Allāh doesn’t burden the soul more than it can bear.”
[8] “Say: Nothing shall ever happen to us except what Allaah has ordained for us. He is our Lord and Protector, and in Alaah let the believers put their trust.”
How comforting are His words? Subhan’Allāh! So bear patience, O Muslim! Indeed, Allāh is with you, He is your Protector, and who can harm you when Allāh is Your Protector!
O Muslim! Be that person that sees the light of His Mercy, Guidance and Love even in the darkest phases of your life. Remember after the blankets of the dark night comes the light rays of the morning sun.
Truly, if we don’t fail at something, we will never learn how to struggle and fight. So when a trial and tribulation befalls upon you, embrace it with faith & patience.
By Allāh, after all these, you will realize how Allāh has made you so strong, spiritually, emotionally and mentally. It might be hard now, but believe me, it’s worth it.
So stay strong, hold on, never lose hope and await for the Light to come your way and you’ll either taste the sweetness or be mesmerized by the beauty of your patience.(or probably both).
